Chairman's Welcome
Another year, another Music Festival!
This year promises to be even bigger and better with a pronounced international feel to it. After a fantastic flying start with The Dreamers (sadly without Freddie) there many attractions both old and new including a return visit from 6PAC, this time with guest vocalist Helen Barrett.
The international representation includes music and dance from Zimbabwe, with the 13-strong Siyaya (very aptly meaning 'on the move'). Later in the Festival we will be entertained by Caratinga, three Brazilians and a Brit providing songs and music on a wide variety of exotic instruments. The second week opens with the return by popular request of Rafael to delight us with the passion of Flamenco, an evening devoted to the heat and emotions of Spain's music and dance.
Local music is, as always, strongly represented, with music from Brackley's Brass Band and swing Jazz Orchestra, the Brackley Male Voice Choir, opera, folk and classical music from around the county including the Jubilee Choir singing Carmina Burana. Not to forget the young musicians of the area, with students from Magdalen College and the Brackley Music School showcasing the talents of their pupils, and the firm favourite of children from local primary schools joining together to provide music making of the highest calibre.
Now in its 14th year, the Festival just keeps on getting better and better
